Vera Truttmann

Vera holds a Bachelor and Master in Technical Chemistry from TU Wien. She specialized in synthetic chemistry for her Master’s programme and also spent one term studying abroad at Trinity College Dublin in Ireland. Vera joined ClusCAT lab already for her Master’s thesis, which dealt with ligand exchange reactions of Au nanoclusters immobilized on a surface. While working on the thesis project, she took the opportunity to perform some part of the experiments and IR spectroscopic studies (VCD, PM-IRRAS) at the University of Geneva in the research group of Prof. Thomas Bürgi.

Vera is currently a PhD student in ClusCAT lab, focusing on the preparation and characterization of chiral Au nanoclusters for heterogeneous catalysis. The main goal thereby is to obtain thorough understanding of the heterogeneous chiral catalysts due to the monodisperse nature and tunability of Au nanoclusters.
